Black Mountains Next Step Ride
So you feel a bit of lurve for mountain biking and are wondering where to go next… You’ve ridden some more trails, maybe even bought your first bike, and think you want to take your riding a little step further. Hey badass, come join us.
This is the opportunity to test your skills, your wobbling knees, and the voice in your head, and show it that you can do this mountain bike riding thing!
This ride is a progression from any of our beginner rides which means it has less fire road and groomed tracks and more wild single track and more opportunities to try your legs on something a bit tougher. But as with all of our rides if you don’t like it you don’t ride it. Ever! This is about creating a group that supports and cheer for each other, not show each other up. And if you come in and your skills shine, we hope you will share your badassery with the group.
Similar to the beginner ride you will be guided and coached over new terrain, given help with line choice, body position, and the basics of how to get the best out of your bike. I won’t stop saying ‘look ahead’ or ‘bum off seat’ because those 2 skills need repeating to everyone throughout their mountain bike journey!

Rides are between 3-4 hours long, and can include the following.

- and so much more….
Meet your host
We will meet in Pont Cadwgn carpark at 10am to ride by 10:30. (there is no phone signal). Here will do a thorough bike check and answer questions about the ride.
Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water as there is no where to stop for snacks once we start riding.
There will definitely be flapjacks… or maybe cake if time allows for my baking hat to get on before the ride.
If you choose to hire a bike, we will be in touch to gauge the correct size. The hardtail bikes we provide are the Niner Air 9 and the Full Suss bikes are the Marin Alpine Trail 7, both come with seat dropper posts.
